The sun was nicely warming our backs and the leaves crunched underfoot. Taking a deep breath, you could almost taste the cool crisp air. Eyes closed, I raised my face to the sun to soak in those glorious fall rays. In that split second break, I felt little hands slap my knees “Tickle Tickle”. And once again we were off. I raised my camera to my eye and chased down a giggling, twirling two year old through the trees. Coaxing a smile out of her at just the right time and making sure he didn’t pick up too many sticks and twigs along the way.

Yep, 2 year old twin sessions are full of energy, laughter, a few tumbles, and a whole lot of giggles.

I love when there is an element of play to all of my family sessions. Of course, having the perfectly posed photo is nice (and we will always attempt one of those too!) but the fun, playful images are what I love to document.

When I look back at my family photos, I like to remember how much fun we had. How my oldest giggles so hard she shreiks or how my youngest sucks in his bottle lip and stares at you when he is waiting for you to tickle him.

Even though it is a still photography, you can almost hear these things happening. The wind blowing through the trees. You can feel the sun, and the arms if you middle child wrapped around your legs. You can feel the sloppy kisses, the loving arm of your husband, and the pudgy little hand that holds yours.

And it is all, completely, 100% perfect.

I have been photographing this family since these little ones were only teeny tiny newborns. It is amazing to watch them grow, to see their little personalities develop. This is hands down, my favorite session of this family to date, although I am sure we will top it next fall!
