Rory | Colgate Newborn Photographer

I have known this wonderful family for a few years now, and I feel so honored to have been able to photograph their newest little addition, Rory!

First of all, can we talk about her name for a second??? A.) its a beautiful underused name, in my opinion! and B.) even though it wasn’t why they chose the name, The Gilmore Girls is one of my all time favorite shows!

Was your baby named after anyone?

Rory was not named after anyone in particular.  My husband and I share the same initials and we decided to carry on the naming convention… we are now a family of four RAM’s.

Did you decorate a nursery? What was your theme/colors?

We keep our nursery themes gender neutral and because my husband is an avid hunter and since he is surrounded by girls we wanted to incorporate a passion of his in the nursery. We went with a woodland theme for our girls and painted the walls a soft yellow and my sister hand painted a large tree and pine tree on the walls

What has been the best part about being new parents?

I think the best part of being parents is seeing our oldest interact with her sister. She is such a big helper and loves her little sister so much. The early morning smiles are also amazing and watching her grow and see her personality shine through.

What has been the most challenging part about being new parents?

I think the most challenging part is lack of sleep and trying to give our oldest the attention she needs.

How has Reese adjusted to the new baby?

Reese has adjusted surprisingly well to having a new baby sister. She wakes up every morning asking to see her sister and give her a hug and kiss. She is always wanting to help or hold her sister.

Cooper our lab is very loving and protective of our girls.

Who does baby look like most?

Rory looks just like Reese as a newborn. It is unreal how similar they are and we are constantly comparing pictures side by side. If you ask me both girls take after Dad especially as newborns

Did you know you were having a boy or a girl before delivery day?

Yes we found out the gender of Rory at our 20 week ultrasound. We have a hard time deciding on names for our children so it is easiest to find out so we have time to choose a name.

What is your favorite memory from the first week or two of having a newborn?

My favorite memory is the when Reese came to the hospital to meet her new baby sister. She was so excited and the look on her face when she saw her sister is something I will remember forever. She was so excited to be a big sister and did not want to stop holding her new little sister.

What did you love most about your newborn session?

I love how Andrea interacts with our oldest and can always get her to warm up and get the best smiles from her. Andrea is so down to earth and makes you feel like part of her family. She pays close attention to detail and works hard to get the best shots. She was very gentle with Rory and was able to adjust and roll with all the punches Rory gave her during the session. Andrea is also very flexible and was able to work with our schedule when we had to reschedule.

What would you tell new mom’s who are unsure if they want to have newborn photos done?

I would tell new moms that they don’t stay little forever and are constantly changing in the first few weeks and year. Capture the memories of them as new babies because you forget how little they once were and it is a good reminder of all the love and memories that were made.

If you’d like to see more beautiful newborn photos, you should most definitely check out my Facebook page!  I’d love to see you there!
