Beautiful Ugly | Monthly Blog Circle

>I hate our house. Okay, maybe hate is a strong word. I very much dislike our house. It it too small, and a little on the shabby side. I would probably be much happier if I just embraced that look, but I can’t. I absolutely love the shabby chic look, and it works perfectly for my business, but not for my home. At home, I like clean lines, and minimal stuff-somthing that is nearly impossible to do with two toddlers and a packrat (myself).

The topic of this months blog circle is beautiful ugly. Pretty broad topic there. I had a really hard time coming up with a topic for my photos. One day, I seriously got fed up with my home. It is always in a state of disarray (please, PLEASE tell me I am not alone in this!) and things are always breaking or falling apart. Lily and I were “working” in my office/bedroom, and I had run downstairs to try to find something. (can’t remember what it was now) As I was walking back into the room, I happened to stop and just watch my daughter study her workbooks. She was so involved with her matching pages and the light was hitting her beautifully. At that moment, I knew exactly what my blog post should be about. My home. It may be ugly on the outside, but the memories and the people in it are absolutely beautiful. So beautiful that they take my breath away. I sat there watching Lily for few more minutes before I ran to get my camera. And in true ninja like fashion, I was able to snap a few frames before she heard the click of my shutter and wanted to pose. (No photographers child syndrome here!)

Andrea, your girls are beautiful. And I can so relate to looking at all the faults of our house, wanting to fix them all, right here, right now. But your words are so true, the beauty is not in the things that we have or the size of our house. The people around us are the ones that matter. Thank for sharing your beauty!
