Italian Cookies

Being Italian, I grew up on Italian cookies. They have been at every family gathering for as long as I can remember. My grandmother used to make the most amazing cookies. They were soft, and creamy, and practically melted in your mouth. I never knew the name of any of the cookies. Okay, that’s not really true. I knew the name of one. Tralies. In fact, I have my grandmothers Tralie recipe in her own handwriting in my recipe box. I love looking at that. Anyway, I digress. I knew the cookies as the red and green ones, the one with sesame seeds, the chocolate ones, etc. And that was good enough for me! I knew which ones were my favorites (the red and green ones for sure!) and I went right for them every time the plate of cookies came out!

As my grandmother got older, my wonderfully talented Aunt Ceil took over making the cookies. As widely popular as they are, she decided to start selling them in stores, and that is how Masi’s Girls was born. (Masi was my grandfathers nickname) The company is now run by my Aunt Ceil, my Uncle Dick and my cousins Todd, Holly, and Lisa. You can now find Masi’s Girls cookies at Albrecht’s Delafield Market and some Sendiks stores, such as the one in New Berlin. You can also order from them directly.

Have I made you hungry for these cookies yet? Well, all of my brides and grooms who book with Dolce Vita receive a box of cookies in their welcome packet. How awesome is that! And hey, if you love them as much as I do, contact Masi’s Girls to order some for your wedding. You guests will go crazy over them!
