3 Undeniable Reasons You Should Book a Family Photography Session

If you’d rather listen to the audio version of this blog post, here it is!

Every year, usually around Christmas time, I hear from so many of you who wished you had gotten family photos done during the year!  This year, I am going to give you a head start and give you three awesome reasons on why you should book family photos sooner rather than later, and why this year is definitely not the year to move them to the bottom of your to do list!

Listen, I totally get it.  Family photos can be stressful!  It’s an impossible task to try to pull together your entire family!  First you have to make sure everyone has coordinating outfits.  But no, that’s not enough!  You also have to make sure these outfits are clean and ready to go on picture day – not digging them out of a laundry basket at the bottom of the basement stairs.  (Please please tell me I am not the only one who does this??)

Second, you need to make sure everyone is fed, well rested, and has their hair brushed.  I don’t care what age your kids are, they probably struggle in at least one of these departments, and it is up to you, mom, to make sure everyone gets what they need.

Don’t forget, that on top of all of this, you have to pull yourself together to be camera ready, all while making sure your kids don’t devour a chocolate bar and wipe their hands on their crisp new shirt and that dad can pull himself away from the baseball game on tv long enough to get into the car without grumbling about why we have to do this.

Okay, I get it.  I am not doing a great job of convincing you that family photos are a piece of cake!  In fact, I know they aren’t!  They absolutely can be stressful.  But that is not reason enough to skip them!!  Family photos only come around about once a year, and it is definitely worth putting in the time to make sure they happen!

Today, I’ve got three awesome reasons on why you shouldn’t skimp on family photos!

#1:  YOU DESERVE TO HAVE PHOTOS OF ALL OF YOU

I bet you have a photo of all of you at Christmas, sure.  But, is that one you really want to hang on the wall year round?  I bet you one of two things is happening.  Either one of you (probably mom), is missing because she is the one taking the picture.  Or 2, you are stating in front of a Christmas tree, stockings, or other Christmas decor.  For me, that just doesn’t work to hang on my wall year round.  I mean, I love Christmas, but when it is over, it is over!  I don’t want it hanging around my house until July.  Well, except for that one random decoration you forgot to put away, because at this point, it might as well stay up until next year!

Secondly, there is a good chance that photo was taken with a cell phone.  I love my cell phone camera.  I have thousands upon thousands of photos taken with it. Some are pretty darn good.  Others are amazing memories, and others are blurry blobs that I just can’t hit the delete button on.  But these aren’t photos that I am printing.  They are photos I share on social media, maybe email to family members, maybe try and print as a 4×6 but inevitably get irritated when they are just too grainy to do anything with.

Having family photos done is an investment, not just financially, but in time as well.  And it is worth it.  Let me say that again.  It is WORTH it! You will never look back and be dissapointed that you took the time to take those family photos.  In fact, within a month or two, I bet you would have forgotten all about that stress!  All you will see are smiling happy faces of the ones you love.  And every time you look at that photo, you will say to yourself, yep, it was worth it.  I promise you that!

#2:  TIME KEEPS PASSING

It’s true.  Time keeps passing, whether we have had a chance to appreciate it or not.  There are many times I wish I could go back and have just one more moment with Lily when she was 9 months old.  Or to reverse time and take one more picture of my grandma with Lexie.

I know it is cliche, but we don’t know what tomorrow holds.  Well, that’s not entirely true.  I do know that tomorrow, your kids will be one day older than they are today.  Slowly, so slowly that you don’t even notice it, those little wrist creases will start to disappear.  They will go from that drunk little toddler walk one day to walking like a big kid the next.  One day you will wake up and wonder who that grown child eating breakfast at your kitchen table is.

If you skipped family photos when your little peanut was six months old, you can’t get that back.  Time will march on whether you take the time to document it or not.  Don’t be stuck wishing you had more photos of your family when honestly, it is pretty simple to do so!

#3:  IM HERE TO HELP YOU EVERY STEP OF THEY WAY

Yep!  That’s right!  That’s my job!  I want to make this as stress free and easy for you as possible!  When you look back at your family photos, I want you to think – gee, that was fun!  Andrea made this so easy!

I am here to help choose locations, narrow down outfit choices, engage your kids, and keep things moving along so your husband doesn’t go crazy!  I know the best times of day to take photos so the lighting is perfect.  I know how to encourage your toddler to cooperate for just 10 more minutes, even though it’s after bed time.  I know the angles that will make you look amazing.  And I know just how badly you want these photos to reflect the love you have for each other.  And trust me.  I want the exact same thing.

All I am asking you to do is commit to having your family photos taken.  That is the only step you need to take by yourself.  I will be by your side for everything else and will make sure you come out the other side with beautiful heirloom photos that will make you smile for generations!

Do it now before life gets in the way!  Fill out this form and I will be in touch with how we can get a date on the calendar for your family session!
